Ikan Bertulang Rawan (Chondrichtyes)

Kalian semua tahu dengan yang namanya “tulang rawan”? Beberapa bagian dari tubuh kita tersusun tidak hanya dari tulang keras tetapi juga ada yang dari tulang rawan, contohnya: hidung, daun telinga dan bahkan diantara ruas-ruas tulang belakang juga terdapat tulang rawan..

Di dunia ini terdapat makhluk hidup (khususnya vertebrata) yang seluruh rangkanya tersusun atas tulang rawan. Di sini saya akan mengambil contoh dari ikan :)

Dikenal empat kelas ikan dan vertebrata sejenis ikan, antara lain kelas Agnatha atau vertebrata tidak berahang yang diwakili Ostrachodermi (punah) dan yang masih ada adalah Cyclostoma (Lamprey dan Hagfish ), ikan purba berahang kelas Placodermi (punah), kelas Chondrichthyes atau ikan kartilago/tulang rawan (ikan hiu, pari dan chimaera) dan kelas Osteichthyes atau ikan bertulang sejati.

Kelas Chondrichthyes masuk dalam superkelas Gnathostomata. Vertebrata kelas Chondrichthyes, hiu dan kerabatnya, disebut ikan bertulang rawan karena mereka memiliki endoskeleton yang relatif lentur yang terbuat dari tulang rawan dan bukan dari tulang keras. Namun demikian, pada sebagian besar spesies, beberapa bagian kerangka diperkuat oleh butiran berkalsium. Terdapat sekitar 750 spesies yang masih hidup dalam kelas ini. Rahang dan sirip-berpasangan berkembang dengan baik pada ikan bertulang rawan. Subkelas yang paling besar dan paling beranekaragam terdiri dari hiu dan ikan pari. Subkelas kedua terdiri atas beberapa lusin spesies ikan yang tidak umum yang disebutchimaera dan ratfish.

Ciri-ciri dari Chondrichthyes diantaranya yaitu :

Rangka tulang rawan; Kerangka bertulang rawan pada ikan-ikan kelas ini adalah karakteristik yang diperoleh, bukan karakteristik primitif. Hal itu disebabkan leluhur Chondrichthyes ternyata memiliki kerangka bertulang keras dan kerangka bertulang rawan yang merupakan karakteristik kelas itu berkembang setelahnya. Selama perkembangan sebagian besar vertebrata, mula-mula kerangka tersusun atas tulang rawan, kemudian menjadi tulang keras (mengeras) seiring dengan mulai digantinya matrik tulang rawan yag lunak dengan matrik kalsium fosfat yang keras (Neil A. Klasifikasi Kelas Chondrichtyes

1. Subkelas Elasmobranchi yang dibedakan atas:

a. Ordo Squaliformes, contoh: Cirrhigaleusasper

b. Ordo Rajiformes, contoh: Dasyatisbrevicaudata, Aetobatus narinari

2. Subkelas Holecephali;

Ordo Chimaeriformes, contoh:Hydrolagus colliei, Hydrolagus melanophasma

Ordo Squaliformes mencakup semua jenis ikan hiu sedangkan ordo Rajiformes mencakup jenis-jenis ikan pari. Terdapat beberapa perbedaan antara ikan hiu dan ikan pari yaitu dalam hal letak celah insang, perlekatan sirip dada dan wujud dari ekornya. Subkelas Holocephali mencakup jenis ikan langka yang disebut ikan tikus. Ikan ini tidak mirip dengan ikan hiu ataupun ikan pari dalam hal bentuk tubuh dan jumlah celah insangnya.

Morfologi dan Fisiologi

Ikan hiu dan ikan pari rahangnya bersendi pada tulang posterior atau pada elemen hiomandibula dari lengkung insang ke-2. Gigi ikan hiu berkembang baik yang membuatnya ditakuti organisme lain. Insang merupakan ciri sistem pernafasan pada ikan. Secara embriologis, celah insang tumbuh sebagai hasil dari serentetan evaginasi faring yang tumbuh keluar dan bertemu dengan invaginasi dari luar. Terdapat variasi perlengkapan insang pada berbagai ikan. Ikan hiu dan ikan pari memiliki 5-7 pasang celah insang ditambah pasangan celah anterior non respirasi yang disebut spirakel. Ikan hiu ataupun ikan bertulang rawan pada umumnya, tidak ditemukan struktur yang mirip paru-paru.

Ada beberapa ikan hiu dan ikan pari yang mempunyai organ luminesen.Bioluminesen adalah pancaran sinar oleh organisme, sebagai hasil oksidasi dari berbagai substrat dalam memproduksi enzim. Susunan substratnya disebut lusiferin dan enzim yang sangat sensitive sebagaikatalisator oksidasi disebut lusiferase. Organ luminesen (organ yang mampu menghasilkan sinar) ditemukan pada beberapa ikan hiu, ikan pari berlistrik (Benthobatis moresbyi) dan beberapa ikan tulang keras khususnya yang tinggal di laut dalam. Adanya organ yang memproduksi sinar ini dapat digunakan untuk menaksir kedalaman laut, dimana ikan tersebut tinggal.

Chondrichthyes atau ikan bertulang rawan adalah ikan berahang, mempunyai sirip berpasangan, lubang hidung berpasangan, sisik, jantung beruang dua, dan rangka yang terdiri atas tulang rawan bukan tulang sejati. Mereka dibagi menjadi dua subkelas:Elasmobranchii (hiu, pari dan skate) andHolocephali (kimera, kadang-kadang disebut hiu hantu, dan kadang dipisahkan menjadi kelas tersendiri).

Rangkanya bertulang rawan yang hidup di air-air payau. Notokorda, yang ada pada yang muda, lambat laun digantikan oleh tulang rawan. Chondrichthyes juga tidak punya rusuk, maka jika mereka keluar dari air, berat tubuh dari spesies besar dapat menghancurkan organ dalam mereka sendiri lama sebelum mereka lentur.

Karena tidak memiliki sumsum tulang,sel darah merah diproduksi di limpa dan jaringan khusus di kelaminnya. mereka juga menghasilkan organ yang disebut Organ Leydig (penghasil sel darah merah) yang hanya ditemukan pada ikan bertulang rawan, meski beberapa tidak memilikinya. Organ unik lain adalah organ epigonal yang mungkin berperan dalam sistem kekebalan. Subkelas Holocephali, grup yang sangat terspesialisasi, tidak mempunyai kedua organ ini.Chondrichthyes terdiri dari Fossil hidup Seperti Hiu.
